Banning of vehicles: Any decisions?

The Russian Federation ' s State Inspectorate has stepped up its efforts to detect illegal tuning vehicles on roads.

What does GIBOD staff think is illegal tuning?

Under current legislation, automobile equipment which is not certified or properly processed (these are below) is considered to be non-standard. Accordingly, a motor vehicle which has been renovated (even slightly) cannot move on public roads, as this is expressly prohibited by existing laws and regulations. As a result, GIBD personnel have the right to prohibit the operation of a tuning vehicle and to oblige the owner to make changes to the vehicle structure, in accordance with the law in force, or to dismantle non-working components and components from the vehicle. Otherwise, the owner of the vehicle ' s tuning risks revoking the vehicle ' s registration, which has not been altered by the manufacturer.
